Mercedes Wightman

Mercedes has just completed her first 9 month contract with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines on board "The Adventure Of The Seas" where she was able to showcase her versatility, excellent technique, and dynamic performance skills in three different productions: "INVITATION TO DANCE" choreographed by Louis van Amstel from "Dancing With The Stars" based on Ballroom Dance Styles; "CAN'T STOP THE ROCK" a pop/rock show; as well a"JACKPOT" a show inspired by the dance styles and elaborate costumes of the famous shows in Las Vegas.

Mercedes is not only a world class dancer. She is a talented singer as well, replacing the lead singer for two cruises.

She studied Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary and Musical Theatre for 14 years at the Linda Jamieson School of Dance and successfully completed all Royal Academy Ballet examinations from Primary to Advanced 2. She was first Runner-Up in 2007 and the Winner in 2008 of the Title, “Regional Teen Dancer of the Year” at the American Dance Awards competition. She has danced numerous lead roles in our annual Production of The Nutcracker including, Clara, Sugar Plum Fairy, and the Snow Queen, partnered by Christophe Maraval of the Paris Opera Ballet Company. An Honour Roll student in all four years of High School, Mercedes placed 2nd in the Regional French Language Public Speaking Contest, won the “Most Outstanding Dancer” Award, and graduated as an Ontario Scholar. She has been accepted to McGill and Concordia universities but has been offered a $12,000 scholarship to attend Ottawa University in the Bachelor of Commerce program.

Mercedes is planning to return to her "life at sea", upon completion of her academic studies.
