Jennifer Ranger

Jennifer Ranger, a graduate of the Linda Jamieson School of Dance Pre-Professional Division, began at the age of 4 in the Pre-School Creative Movement Class. Having successfully completed all Children's and Major's examinations from Pre-Primary to Advanced 2 she is a "full member" of the Royal Academy of Dance. At the age of 12, Jennifer was accepted into the Summer Intensive Program of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School where she was fortunate enough to be taught by Prima Ballerina, Evelyn Hart.

Mrs. Ranger was one of the outstanding students who inspired the teaching staff to choreograph and produce our first Nutcracker Production in 1995 where she was cast in the original "Snowflakes" and "Flowers". In the years to follow, Jennifer's strong pointe work and beautiful lines earned her the most challenging roles of "Sugar Plum Fairy" and "Snow Queen". In the well known Nutcracker Pas de Deux, Jennifer was partnered by Yu Xin, Principal Dancer, from Michael Barishnikov's, American Ballet Theatre of New York City.

Invited by Ottawa's National Arts Centre, Jennifer was delighted to be among a select group of dancers to perform excerpts from our own Nutcracker Production and various Musical Theatre Productions in conjunction with the National Arts Centre Orchestra's Fall Concert Season. Added to her list of credits, Jennifer successfully auditioned for and was cast in the Hollywood Film, "Barney's Great Adventure".

An outstanding Tap Dancer and Musical Theatre performer, Jennifer successfully auditioned for the American Theatre Dance Workshop in New York City where she studied with Broadway Choreographers, Karin Baker of "42nd Street", Lisa Gennaro of "Most Happy Fella" & " A Little Night Music", and Chris Chadman, Choreographer for "Guys 'N Dolls". Jennifer has also played lead roles in four musicals: "42nd Street, "Chorus Line", "Guys 'N Dolls", & "Grease" choreographed by Mrs. Jamieson for the Earl of March Secondary School.

In competition, Jennifer won numerous awards and trophies culminating in the The American Dance Awards "Senior Dancer of the Year" Regional Title for her highly acclaimed tap solo.

Mrs. Ranger holds the Teaching Certificate with A. D. A. P. T., ADVANCED DANCE ARTS FOR PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS. She is looking forward to working with our Pre-Professional Jazz and Tap dancers in preparation for their upcoming examinations.
